Shaheed Buddhijibi Dibosh / Martyred Intellectuals Day

Shaheed Buddhijibi Dibosh, or Martyred Intellectuals Day, is observed annually in Bangladesh on 14
December to remember Bengali intellectuals who were killed towards the end of the 1971 Liberation
War.
The victims included teachers, writers, doctors, engineers, journalists and other professionals. Their
deaths resulted in a significant loss of intellectual and professional leadership at the time of
Bangladesh’s independence.
DUAUK issued a commemorative message honouring the martyred intellectuals and paying tribute
to their contributions. The organisation also reaffirmed its commitment to truth, justice, knowledge
and democratic values.
